Artist's Statement
Born in West Sussex, I gained degrees in Geology at London & Oxford (1965-71) which led to an international career in the oil industry [not BP]. In the early 1980’s, part-time, I studied drawing and sculpture in Perth, Western Australia. Between 1995 and 2002, I completed the Open College of the Arts Painting Course Years 1-5 & their 1-year Understanding Western Art history course.
I paint mainly seascapes, landscapes and abstracts using oils, acrylics and charcoal, mainly on medium to large canvasses. I particularly enjoy abstracting landform to reveal the underlying sculptural structure and movement, be it the rolling chalk downlands of Hampshire and Wiltshire or the mobile, erosional, edge of the Dorset coast. My work is in several private collections in the UK and overseas. I featured in The Wessex Muse Magazine in Aug 2007 and Dec 2008. I am pleased to discuss “no obligation” commissions.
