Artist's Statement
I studied geology at London (B.Sc) & Oxford (D.Phil), which led to a career in the oil industry around the world. In the early 1980’s, part-time, I took drawing and sculpture courses in Perth, Western Australia. Between 1995 and 2002, I completed the Open College of the Arts Painting Course Years 1-5 & the 1-year Understanding Western Art history course.
I paint seascapes, landscapes, life figures and abstracts, using oils, acrylics and charcoal, mainly on medium to large canvasses. I particularly enjoy abstracting landform to reveal the underlying sculptural structure and movement, be it the rolling chalk downlands of Hampshire and Wiltshire or the mobile, erosional, edge of the Dorset coast.
My work is in several private collections in the UK and overseas. I featured in The Wessex Muse Magazine in Aug 2007 and Dec 2008.
